7/12/23 - (SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA) - Cassetta, a new project based out of greater Los Angeles, has released their debut single “Swallow the Sun” on Bandcamp and all DSPs. The hardcore/metal group blends influences from the heaviest, darkest spaces to create a relentless, pummeling wall of sound. The song features guest vocals from Cameron Miller of Duhkha and was previewed earlier today via Knotfest.
Cassetta keeps things simple, brutal and honest, leaning into the pure energy of each downtuned riff, taking the listener on a journey down a dark, deeply personal path with vocalist Conor Eaton’s lyrics. Eaton, also of the band The Keeper, penned the track about the struggles of depression, loss and the overwhelming grief that comes with losing people around him. The band is rounded out by guitarist/songwriter Kevin Fifield (Pressure Cracks/Scars of Tomorrow), Marc Motley (The Arson Choir), Bob Bradley (Fake Figures/Scars of Tomorrow) and Alex Lopez (Suicide Silence).
The band has launched pre-orders for a 2 song cassette, which includes “Swallow the Sun” and an upcoming single called “Thin Blue Crime” alongside enamel pins and two shirt variants via their Bandcamp store. “Swallow the Sun” was produced by Kevin Fifield and mixed by Jeff Dunne (Make Them Suffer, Veil Of Maya, Motionless In White, Emmure etc).
“Shining light on mental struggles, especially those that are typically kept private, has always been a cathartic release for me. Being able to do it with friends that I’ve looked up to for a long time has made this experience extremely special. Swallow the sun is the first song we wrote together and I believe it’s a good representation of what you can expect from Cassetta moving forward. Jeff Dunne did a great job at making these songs sound absolutely massive. I hope you can find something to connect to in our music and most of all I can’t wait to play these songs live with all of our friends.” - Conor Eaton / Cassetta
