PORTLAND, OR (10/25/24) - PDX singer-songwriter Shawn Brown has just announced that his newest EP - Into the Furious Light - will be released on streaming services on November 1st. The EP, featuring two new singles, “Hold Fast” and “Let Them Love Ya,” was produced by Grecco Buratto (Shakira, Tegan and Sara, Loniel Richie) and is unquestionably Brown’s most raw and evocative work yet. “Hold Fast” is available today on Spotify and Apple Music.

Instead of utilizing their tried-and-true Los Angeles based recording blue-print, Shawn Brown and Grecco Burratto chose to helm the project in Brown’s hometown of Portland. Recorded at The Panther Studio with famed musician/engineer Steve Drizos, this new EP is the first to feature Shawn Brown Band members Ben Landsverk, Jeff Langston and Ned Failing. Over the years, whenever Shawn Brown plays as a full band, fans can expect the four piece group to deliver a live experience that is hypnotic, emotional and memorable. Both songs on the EP were produced by Grecco Buratto, engineered by Steve Drizos, mixed by Tiago Becker and mastered by Juan Garcia Petri.

Artwork for both the EP and the single “Hold Fast” come courtesy of celebrated San Francisco photographer Joshua Sing, whose work has been featured in SF Gate, My Modern Met, Colossal and more. As a longtime fan of Singh’s work, Shawn Brown was thrilled to connect with him as his deep, purposeful photography pairs perfectly with his music. Singh’s work with analog film is self described as being “fueled by a deep sense of nostalgia..” and deliberately “mirroring the introspective nature of reminiscing.”*

The Into the Furious Light EP is undoubtedly Shawn Brown at his best - vulnerably laying it all on the line with urgent, painstaking reflections on loss, sadness, resilience and redemption. His signature voice cuts deeper than ever, fueled by earnest, melodic arrangements calling to mind everything from Counting Crows and Lucinda Williams to Parry Griffin and Tom Petty. The result is an immensely cinematic and mature work that doesn’t shy away from harrowing explorations of hope through the darkness.

Into the Furious Light arrives hot off the heels of Shawn’s recent singles “Road of Bones” and “The Sad Ones”, both of which received widespread critical praise, radio play, an abundance of prominent playlist placements and have become essential moments during Shawn Brown Band live sets.

Shawn Brown wants his songs to be the soundtrack for anyone caught between inspiration and uncertainty, providing a sense of solace and motivation for those who need it most, especially when life feels impossibly heavy. Listen to Shawn Brown at https://linktr.ee/shawnbrownsings
